Your website is online but absent from Google: inspect these signals first
You can open the website but cannot find its page in search. Causes differ: technical blocking, duplicate URLs, unclear content or limited visibility for that intent.
You can open the website but cannot find its page in search. Causes differ: technical blocking, duplicate URLs, unclear content or limited visibility for that intent. Before investing in distribution, check whether the intended page is readable and whether signals identify the correct URL. These checks do not guarantee indexing or rankings.
Inspect the exact page
Record its HTTP response and redirect destination. An error page returning success can complicate diagnosis; a redirect should reach a relevant destination. When a route changes, retain a suitable old-to-new rule rather than create competing copies.
| Check | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| HTTP | Available page or intended redirect |
| Robots and noindex | Controls matching the page purpose |
| Canonical | Intended URL rather than an unwanted copy |
| Sitemap | Public, relevant destinations only |
| HTML | Readable heading, content and links |
Robots.txt and noindex serve different purposes. Do not remove protection from administrative pages or drafts in an attempt to improve SEO. Search Console URL inspection, with verified access, can clarify a page's state; searching for the business name alone does not explain every issue.
Check content without effects or interactions
The offer and important links should be present without waiting for a user action, including when JavaScript is unavailable. Metadata and structured data must match actual content rather than add invented reviews or outcomes.
In a hypothetical case, a commercial page retains noindex from a review environment. Fixing the control can make it eligible for public evaluation but does not automatically establish relevance for a query. Intent, content and navigation still need review after technical access is corrected.
Avoid guaranteed-discovery shortcuts
Many similar pages or unnecessary keywords do not replace a clear structure. Google's guidance says AI search features do not require a special file or schema. Useful content and technical fundamentals remain relevant; no setting guarantees appearance in an AI answer.
I can investigate crawlability, metadata and implementation within professional websites. Bring the domain, intended URLs and authorised read-only Search Console access where available. Without that connection, the report will state technical findings and hypotheses rather than invented search volumes or rankings.
